EDP LABELEC opens a new laboratory – SMARTLAB

Friday 30, June 2017

EDP LABELEC celebrated the opening of a new laboratory on its premises, in Sacavém, Lisbon.

On the 30th of June, EDP LABELEC celebrated, with its clients, partners and employees, the opening of a new laboratory, the SMARTLAB, located on its premises, in Sacavém, Lisbon.

This laboratory has as its goal to test, in an integrated way, all the equipments from EDP’s smartgrid. It has the capabilities to simulate an entire low voltage network – with consumption and generation of electrical energy – including the connection of up to 4 secondary substations (equipped with routers, concentrators, modems,…), low voltage circuits equipped with up to 400 smartmeters, simulation modules of consumer’s homes and distributed generation.

SMARTLAB had its first practical application, the validation of a complete smartgrid solution, in this case the one used in H2020’s Project SENSIBLE. This solution was then installed in Valverde, Évora (http://www.h2020-project-sensible.eu/demonstrator-sites/evora-demonstrator-site.aspx).
